Samir Bangalore, MD is a board certified Neurologist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also board certified in Epilepsy, Clinical Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine. Following undergraduate studies in chemical and biomedical engineering, Dr. Bangalore attended medical school at Northwestern University. After his third year of medical school, he engaged in a one-year research fellowship funded by the NIH to investigate treatments for sleep disorders and circadian rhythm disturbances. Dr. Bangalore then completed neurology residency and clinical neurophysiology fellowship at the University of Chicago. During his time in Chicago, Dr. Bangalore fostered an interest in public service, serving as a medical volunteer for the Chicago Marathon and a judge in the Chicago Public Schools Science Fair. He relocated to Las Vegas in 2007 and established the first accredited Epilepsy Center in Nevada; he continues to serve as the medical director for the Epilepsy Center at Nevada Neurosciences Institute at Sunrise Health. He continues to serve the local epilepsy community through his work as part of the Epilepsy Foundation of Nevada, including presenting at educational conferences and hosting a monthly Epilepsy Support Group. He is an active member of the American Epilepsy Society, the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys travel with his family, working on silly inventions, and pretending to go to the gym.
